Ketoconazole belongs to a class of medications known as imidazoles. Ketoconazole Cream is generally used for the treatment of skin fungal infections such as tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea corporis (ringworm of the body), tinea cruris (jock itch - ringworm of the groin) and yeast infections of the skin. The active ingredient in Nizral Cream is Ketoconazole, which prevents the infection by obstructing the formation of fungal cell membrane, thus weakening its integrity and resulting in the spillage of its contents. This faulty cell membrane formation eventually leads to the death of the fungus.
Treatment with Ketoconazole Cream is beneficial to relieve symptoms of fungal infections such as itching, burning, cracking, and scaling. Nizral Cream Dosage - How to Apply Ketoconazole Cream?

Generic Ketoconazole Cream should be used exactly as suggested by your doctor. Your doctor may suggest a dosage depending on your medical condition, age, body weight, other medical conditions, and other current medications.
Ketoconazole Cream should be applied only to the affected areas of skin, usually twice daily or as suggested by your doctor for about 2 to 4 weeks. Before applying Ketoconazole Cream, wash the affected area with warm and mild soap and dry them thoroughly. Gently rub Nizral Cream 2 percent into the area of treatment until the cream is uniformly spread. Wash your hands immediately after using Ketoconazole Cream. In case of treatment for athlete's foot, patients should avoid applying Ketoconazole Cream on moist skin by making it a point to wash and dry the feet thoroughly, especially the area between the toes, before applying Ketoconazole Cream. For foot infections, make sure you dry your feet thoroughly (especially between the toes) and use shoes which have a good fit on your feet and has appropriate ventilation.
It would also be helpful to wear socks made up cotton or wool to enhance treatment results and to prevent recurrence of infections. Patients should continue the treatment with Ketoconazole Cream for the prescribed treatment period even if the symptoms have cleared because abrupt discontinuation of treatment may allow the fungus to grow again, resulting in a relapse of the fungal infection.

Missed Dose

Do not administer a double dose to compensate the missed dose of Ketoconazole Cream.
