Isotroin Capsules - Dosage

Isotretinoin capsules should be administered exactly as recommended by the doctor. Do not alter the dosage of the medication or the dosage period without consulting the prescriber. Usually Isotroin capsules are administered twice a day after a meal, unless you are given any other advice by the doctor.
Isotretinoin capsules should be swallowed and not sucked or chewed. Swallow Isotroin capsules as quickly as possible along with a glass of water or milk to avoid irritation caused by the melting of the Isotretinoin capsule in the food pipe.
A single course of Isotretinoin capsules lasts for a period of 15 to 20 weeks which is an adequate period of time to achieve complete and lasting results of treatment. Depending on the severity of your medical condition and your response to treatment, your doctor will alter your dosage to achieve the best possible result. If your response to the treatment is satisfactory, your doctor may shorten the dosage period from the standard 15 to 20 weeks.
After the completion of a single treatment course of Isotroin capsules, there should be a “rest period” of at least two months, when no drugs are administered. The acne may continue to be cured even without the medication during this period. After the rest period, if the acne conditions shows little improvement, your doctor may follow it up with a second course of Isotretinoin capsules.
To ensure the safety of the medication on your system, your doctor may advise you to perform occasional blood tests and liver function tests.
Please consult your doctor for exact dosing instructions. tablets (Generic tablets) should be administered in the dose prescribed by the doctor and for the duration recommended by the doctor.

Missed Dose

If you fail to take your regular Isotroin capsule dose on time, take it whenever you remember during the day. If you remember the next day, skip the missed dose and take your scheduled dose.
Do not take a double dose in a single day to compensate the missed dose.

Isotroin Mechanism of Action – How Does Isotretinoin Work?

Isotretinoin belongs to a class of drugs known as retinoid. Retinoids are commonly used for the treatment of skin problems. Isotretinoinworks by suppressing the production of skin oil (sebum) by the sebaceous glands. Higher sebum production results in the manifestation of severe acne. Isotroin capsules reduces the size of the sebaceous glands, alter the characteristics of the skin oil and prevent the unusual hardening of skin.
