Fluconazole tablets are used to treat fungal and yeast infections which affect the vagina, mouth, throat, esophagus, abdomen, lungs, blood, and other organs. Fluconazole tablets are used for the effective treatment of meningitis, a type of fungal infection of the membranes that protect the organs of the central nervous system, namely brain and spine.
Fluconazole is also used to prevent yeast infections in patients who have developed low immune resistance due to chemotherapy or radiation therapy before a bone marrow transplant or due to immune deficiency diseases such as AIDS.

Contraindications

Medical History

Allergy

Fluconazole Interactions

Please inform your doctor if you are taking anticoagulants (warfarin), benzodiazepines (alprazolam), buspirone, carbamazepine, cyclophosphamide, cyclosporine, ergot alkaloids (ergotamine ), haloperidol, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors or "statins" (simvastatin), hydantoins (phenytoin), methadone, muscarinic antagonists (solifenacin, tolterodine), narcotics (codeine), ramelteon, sulfonylureas (glipizide), theophylline, or tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline) because Fluconazole may increase the risk of their side effects. Aldosterone blockers (eplerenone), amiodarone, astemizole, cisapride, pimozide, serotonin receptor agonists (eletriptan), macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin), quinolines (ciprofloxacin), or terfenadine increase the risk of severe irregular heartbeat (QT prolongation). Rifabutin increases the risk of certain eye problems (uveitis). Macrolide immunosuppressants (tacrolimus) increase the risk of kidney problems. Rifampin or proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole) decrease the efficacy of Fluconazole.

Fluconazole Tablets - Driving and Other Activities
