Generic Dutasteride Capsules (Duprost) - Product Information

Duprost Capsules contain Dutasteride as the active ingredient. Duprost Capsules are prescribed as oral therapy for the effective treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men, which is characterized by the presence of an enlarged prostate gland.
Dutasteride capsules belong to the class of drugs called 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. Dutasteride capsules block the conversion of the testosterone male hormone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is primarily required for the development of BPH.
The administration of generic Dutasteride capsules results in an improved flow of urine, and it may also prevent the need for a prostate surgery afterwards. On our online pharmacy, Duprost capsules are available in the strength of 0.5 mg of Dutasteride.

We also have in stock Caverta Tablets which are used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (inability to get or maintain an erection) in men.

Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient

The active ingredient present in Duprost Capsules is Dutasteride. Each Duprost Capsule contains 0.5 mg of Dutasteride. The inactive ingredients present in Generic Dutasteride pills are mono- and diglycerides of caprylic/capric acid, butylhydroxytoluene, gelatin, glycerol, titanium dioxide, iron oxide yellow, triglycerides, and lecithin.

What are Dutasteride Capsules Used For?

Duprost 0.5 mg capsules, manufactured by Cipla Ltd. in the strength of 0.5 mg, are commonly used as oral therapy for the treatment of symptoms which are characteristic of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a medical condition that leads to men developing an enlarged prostate gland. Dutasteride capsules are 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. They block the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, the hormone which results in the development of benign prostate hyperplasia (prostate enlargement). Dutasteride Capsules are used as therapy for the treatment of acute urinary retention (urinary blockage) symptoms such as difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream, and the inclination to urinate repeatedly or urgently (including during the middle of the night). The administration of Generic Dutasteride capsules may also decrease the need for a surgery to reduce the size of an enlarged prostate in patients diagnosed with mild to moderate BPH.
Duprost Capsules should not be administered to prevent the development of prostate cancer in men. Dutasteride Capsules may be used by itself or in combination with another medication called Tamsulosin (Flomax) for the effective treatment of benign prostatic cancer. Before starting the course of Dutasteride Capsules, discuss the risks and benefits of the medication with your doctor because Dutasteride Capsules may increase the risk of developing a serious type of prostate cancer. Dutasteride capsules should not be administered to women or children, because their administration results in deficient development of the male sex organs in the unborn fetus and in growing children. Duprost capsules are not approved for the treatment of hair loss in men.

Duprost Dosage - How to Take Generic Dutasteride Capsules?

Generic Dutasteride Capsules should be administered exactly as suggested by your doctor. Your doctor may recommend a dosage of Duprost Capsules depending on your age, medical requirement, body weight, other medical conditions, and current medications. Dutasteride Capsules should be swallowed with a glass of water. Dutasteride Capsules can be taken with or without food. You should be systematic about the daily schedule for the medication such that you take Duprost Capsules at the same time every day, to get the maximum benefit of the medication.
The standard recommended dosage is 0.5 mg of Dutasteride Capsules once a day. Make sure that you swallow the capsule and not chew it, because the ingredients of the capsule may cause irritation to the oropharyngeal mucosa if it comes in contact with the throat. Your doctor may modify the dosage of Dutasteride Capsules and treatment period depending on your response to treatment. Duprost Capsules should not be administered to women and children below the age of 18 years.
Continue taking Dutasteride Capsules for the recommended treatment period without missing any doses. Patients on a course of Dutasteride Capsules will notice its therapeutic effect and experience its full benefit only after 3 to 6 months after treatment. Do not stop the treatment temporarily even if you feel that your symptoms have cleared because Duprost Capsules can only help to control your symptoms but it does not cure the medical condition. You doctor may want to monitor your health regularly during the treatment with Dutasteride Capsules using blood tests and prostate cancer antigen (PSA) tests.
Please consult your doctor for exact dosing instructions. Duprost Capsules (Generic Dutasteride capsules) should be administered in the dose prescribed by the doctor and for the duration recommended by the doctor.

Missed Dose

If you miss your regular dose of Dutasteride Capsules, take it as soon as you remember. You can continue your regular schedule the next day. If you remember the missed dose of Dutasteride Capsules the next day, take your regular dose, and skip the missed dose.
Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed dose of Dutasteride Capsules.

Dutasteride Mechanism of Action – How Does Duprost Work?

Dutasteride Capsules are used to reduce the size of the enlarged prostate gland in patients diagnosed with Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH). Dutasteride Capsules belong to the class of drugs known as 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, which block the enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. The enzyme 5-alpha reductase regulates the conversion of male hormone testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is responsible for the enlargement of the prostate gland.
By reducing the amount of DHT in the prostate gland, Dutasteride Capsules effectively reduce the size of the prostate gland. When the prostate gland reduces its size, it eases its pressure on the bladder and urethra, thereby allowing the smooth passage and free flow of urine.
