Diclofenac Sodium Mechanism of Action – How Does Voveran Work?
Diclofenac Sodium belongs to class of medications known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which are used to reduce the pain, swelling, and inflammation associated with various musculoskeletal conditions.
Diclofenac Sodium tablets inhibit the activity of a group of enzymes called cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes. COX enzymes are responsible for the synthesis of specific inflammatory substances called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are synthesized at specific locations of injury or damage, resulting in pain and inflammation in that region. By inhibiting the activity of COX enzymes, the amount of prostaglandins in circulation in the body is drastically reduced and thus results in the alleviation of pain and inflammation.
