Uses of Cyclomune Ophthalmic Solution (Cyclosporine Eye Drops)
Cyclomune Ophthalmic Solution (Cyclosporine Eye Drops) 0.05% and 0.1% is a calcineurin inhibitor immunosuppressant used to increase tear production in patients whose tear production is presumed to be suppressed due to ocular inflammation associated with keratoconjunctivitis sicca. Increased tear production was not seen in patients currently taking topical anti-inflammatory drugs or using punctal plugs.
Cyclomune Eye Drops (Cyclosporine 0.05% and 0.1% Ophthalmic Solution) - Dosage
Cyclomune Eye Drops should be administered exactly as suggested by your doctor. Your doctor may recommend a dosage of Cyclomune Eye Drops depending on your age, medical requirement, body weight, other medical conditions, and current medications.
Instill one drop of Cyclomune ophthalmic solution twice a day in each eye approximately 12 hours apart.
Cyclomune Eye Drops work effectively if the amount of Cyclosporine is maintained at a constant level in the body. You should be systematic about the daily schedule for the medication such that you use Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution at about the same time every day, to get the maximum benefit of the medication. Continue using Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution without missing any doses for the recommended treatment period and do not stop the treatment suddenly even if you feel better.
Please consult your doctor for exact dosing instructions. Cyclomune Eye Drops (Generic Cyclosporine 0.05% and 0.1% Ophthalmic Solution) should be administered in the dose prescribed by the doctor and for the duration recommended by the doctor.
Missed Dose
If you forget to administer your regular Cyclomune Eye Drops dose on time, use it whenever you remember.
However, if it is almost time for the next dose, the missed dose should be skipped, and the regular dosing schedule resumed. Doses should not be doubled. The dose should not exceed two drops in the affected eye(s) daily.
Mechanism of Action
Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressive agent when administered systemically.
In patients whose tear production is presumed to be suppressed due to ocular inflammation associated with keratoconjunctivitis sicca, cyclosporine emulsion is thought to act as a partial immunomodulator. The exact mechanism of action is not known.

Side Effects of Cyclosporine 0.05% and 0.1% Ophthalmic Solution (Cyclomune Eye Drops)
During clinical trials the most common side effect following the use of Cyclosporine 0.05% and 0.1% Ophthalmic Solution was ocular burning (17%). Other reactions reported in 1% to 5% of patients included conjunctival hyperemia, discharge, epiphora, eye pain, foreign body sensation, pruritus, stinging, and visual disturbance (most often blurring).
The following adverse reactions have been identified during post approval use of Cyclomune Eye Drops (Cyclosporine 0.05% and 0.1% Ophthalmic Solution). Because these reactions are reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate their frequency or establish a causal relationship to drug exposure.
Reported reactions have included: hypersensitivity (including eye swelling, urticaria, rare cases of severe angioedema, face swelling, tongue swelling, pharyngeal edema and dyspnea); and superficial injury of the eye (from the vial tip touching the eye during administration).
