Skelebenz Mechanism of Action – How Does Cyclobenzaprine HCl Work?

Skelebenz capsules (Generic Cyclobenzaprine capsules) are muscle relaxants which are structurally and pharmacologically related to tricyclic antidepressants. Cyclobenzaprine HCl capsules help to ease the muscle spasm which occur at specific muscular locations in the body and not in the nerves which regulate the muscle movement and functioning. Cyclobenzaprine does not disturb muscle function. Cyclobenzaprine is known to achieve its therapeutic effect through its action on the nervous system, primarily in the brainstem. Cyclobenzaprine HCl exerts its effect largely within the central nervous system at the brain stem. The corresponding action on the spinal cord is instrumental in its inclusive action as a skeletal muscle relaxant. Scientific evidence proposes that the complete therapeutic effect of Cyclobenzaprine is due to a decrease in tonic somatic motor activity, which induces both gamma and alpha motor systems.
